Yacht Crew

Captain
Having the highest position among the yacht crew, his responsibility is to oversee the condition of the entire vessel primarily the safety of the passengers. With that description alone, you cannot appoint just about anybody. The person has to be well- versed with the technicalities of the system such as satellite navigation, multi- propeller, radar, stabilizers, trim- tabs, stern thrusters and satellite communication, among the others. On smaller boats, he can even be the maintenance head at the same time.

Deckhand
Dubbed as the jack of all trades among the yacht crew, this person has to basically act as an assistant in the absence of the other staff. When working in a large vessel, his assignments are given by a boson. As for the smaller ones, he is expected to work hand in hand with the captain when the engineer is not around or with the chef when the steward is not on board. Generally speaking, the person is in- charge of the facade of the boat where he does painting, washing, buffing, waxing and polishing.

Engineer
By the name itself, he is tasked to carefully look into the engines of the vessel. Due to the importance of his duty, he is usually considered as second in rank among the yacht crew. When you speak of a large boat, commercial licenses are required before the person is accepted for the job. Knowledge on mechanical understanding and reverse osmosis are also regarded very essential. Other fields covered include electrics, hydraulics, plumbing and refrigeration.

Steward
A member of the yacht crew that you can befriend the most, he is in the business of keeping the interiors spic and span. His first priority is comfort and convenience which means to say that cleaning is an integral scope in the nature of his occupation. Washing the clothes, serving the meals and vacuuming the floors are among the specific things he will be doing all throughout the trip on the open seas. Aside from perfecting those chores, he should also bear in mind not to intrude the privacy of the guests.

Chef
Identified to be the most creative among the yacht member, he is expected to come up with exotic cuisines out from usual ingredients. He should be able to present to the guests dishes that are exciting to the palate without repetition. If you think it is simple because he only has to prepare meals, you better think twice because there is more in stored for him inside the kitchen such as extensive planning. He also has to have the capability to operate while floating on the waters.
